Fur, fuzz, fun. Our home is bursting with kitten joy.

After taking a year off we finally felt it was the right time to get a new kitten. You see, we had an amazing cat, Bandit, for almost 17 years. We picked him up as a boisterous kitten just after graduating college. Together, he, Kalob and I grew up, spent every special moment together and had so many wonderful memories. His passing was a great loss that would never be filled. While we enjoyed the freedom to leave at a moments notice, to not have to have a pet sitter while on vacations or the worry of an aging cat, it was getting a bit lonely. I work from home and began to really miss having a companion — a podcast can only take up so much space in ones life.

I began my search slowly into the type of cat we might welcome next — careful to choose a friendly breed that would fit our home well but not replace our sweet Bandit. I came across the Scottish Straight — a beautiful short hair breed, a version of the infamous Scottish fold, but without the mutation. I located a wonderful breeder just up North, Levada Land, and made the bold choice to reach out. To my delight she had a litter about to be born! Now I just had to get Kalob on board — he had not yet expressed he was ready to get a kitten. I took a risk and ambushed him a few days before we left for a vacation. We jumped on a video chat and met the kitten, just weeks old, that was soon to be ours. Once you see that sweet little fuzz ball it’s hard to say no.

Upon arriving home from our trip we quickly jumped into the car and drove North to get our new family member! At first glance I was in love and knew she was the perfect fit for us — her little gray face looked up at us and we melted. We signed all the papers and headed back home as she slept nestled in my sweatshirt. She spent a few nights hiding under her litter box cabinet but once she emerged every moment with her has been a joy.

We hope that Bandit is happy to see us with a new fur baby. Looking forward to the memories we will share together!
