Sips, Laughs & Vineyard Adventures: A Wine Weekend with Friends
Spending time in Healdsburg tops my list of favorite weekend escapes. This summer, we were fortunate to enjoy it with our friends Lindsey and Ryan, whom we met last fall at a Secret Supper getaway in France. Our mutual love of food, wine, and travel sparked an instant connection, and we’ve been close ever since. Living nearby in the Bay Area, we make it a point to get together often. (Side note: Lindsey and Ryan recently welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Marlow Rae!)
Now, back to the weekend.
Our friends joined us at the charming apartment at Arista Winery—a lovely two-bedroom spot with a cozy kitchen and living room. After we all arrived and settled in, we quickly changed into something more comfortable. Kalob had arranged a special treat: a private chef, who prepared a delightful San Francisco-Italian-inspired dinner. The night was filled with great wine, delicious food, and even better conversation.
The next day was all about relaxation and savoring the moment. We began with a leisurely morning stroll around the winery’s scenic property, soaking in the beauty of our surroundings. Late morning, we enjoyed a wine tasting with light bites at the tasting room, setting the stage for the evening's main event.
As the afternoon drifted by, we took some downtime to recharge and freshen up for what was to come: another Secret Supper! This unique event gathers 50-100 people at a secret location to dine under the stars. The actual venue—Iron Horse Vineyards, an intimate, family-owned winery nestled in the hills—was revealed to us just a day or two before. The evening began with tastings from several boutique local producers, followed by an unforgettable dinner in the vineyard. We laughed, ate, drank, and left the table thoroughly satisfied.
To wrap up the weekend, we made a final stop at Flour Flower Bakery on our way home, where we picked up a fresh loaf of bread and some scrumptious scones. After hugs and goodbyes, we parted ways, already looking forward to our next weekend adventure.
