Marvel at panoramic views of snow-capped peaks and deep valleys below as you ascend higher into the Atlas Mountains.

Hammam — A Moroccan Hammam (bath) is often done weekly to cleanse, relax and exfoliate. Each place has their own rituals. I began my journey with a cleansing rinse in the shower (only wearing disposable underwear!). The spa attendant then covered me neck to toe in black soap which is quintessential to the Moroccan Hammam ritual. The dough is based on olive oil which is enormously rich in vitamin E and an excellent moisturizer.

I then spent 10 minutes in a hot room (like a sauna) to sweat and detox, all while the black soap was doing its thing. Another shower before hopping on to a towel-covered marble slab. The woman used a traditional exfoliating mitt to scrub down my entire body. Back, then front and finally sitting up, she covered every inch. It was fascinating to see the dead skin flake off. Time to shower again! The woman kindly asked if I would like her to wash my hair. I felt like a kid as she shampooed and conditioned me.

Back onto the table. This time for a layer of soap and bubbles. I laid there for 5 minutes to let it soak in and soften my skin. Another shower, back to the table for a full body mask and another 5 minute soak. A final rinse in the shower completes the experience.

I was then treated to some lemon and mint tea and a biscuit while waiting for my next treatments. I followed the Hammam with a massage and facial to get the full experience. My skin has never felt so soft!

  • Douar Samra — Enjoy a traditional Berber lunch, starting with mint tea and an array of starters like homemade bread, olives, and salads. Eating at a Dar or Riad — Experience the culinary delights of staying at a Moroccan Dar or Riad, where every meal is a feast for the senses. Start your day with a delicious breakfast served in the courtyard or on its sunny terrace, featuring fresh bread, pastries, jams, honey, olives, cheeses, eggs, and refreshing mint tea or coffee. Lunch offers a chance to sample light and flavorful Moroccan dishes such as salads, couscous, and grilled meats, perfect for a midday break. As evening approaches, dinner becomes a memorable affair with a variety of traditional Moroccan specialties like tagines, pastilla, and couscous, served in the riad's enchanting surroundings, allowing you to savor the rich flavors of Moroccan cuisine in an intimate and welcoming atmosphere. Note: Many of these do not have or sell alcohol on property but you are more than welcome to bring your own.
